AAR – Monthly Shoot’n’Que Burro Canyon – Saturday, 09-27 – Azusa

Saturday’s shoot was laid back. Those that turned out were a varied group of shooters. Several came after the safety briefing at 10:00 AM. The count came out to 25. The day was marvelous and the temperature was comfortable. During lunch the wind picked up significantly, at one point that afternoon marching a 12×12 easy-up about two lengths along the central berm beyond the firing line (Cease Fire! Cease Fire! Cease Fire!).

As usual the plates were full between the burgers, links, marinated chicken and carne asada. We had a nice cooking area with and easy-up and again crazychinaman and helpers handled the cooking duties. A big Thank You!, to those who helped out.

RFBIII and repo4sale ‘tag-teamed’ on the RSO duties. Thanks Bob and John! Note: additional RSO’s will be needed at all future events on the East 1A/B ranges, due to the divided line, so folks, please volunteer to help!

Again Gun Effects, our shoot sponsor provided several great prizes. Our three prize winners were TheComedian (Javier D.), RFBIII (Bob B.) and crazychinaman (Al F.). KEN RYAN (same) won the 2nd quarterly Grand Prize. Ken, please let us know what you pick for your ‘at cost’ item from Gun Effects. The remaining non-winning tickets were discarded and next month the sweepstakes tickets process will start over for the 3rd quarter.

AAR CGSSA Tactical/Defensive Pistol Clinic – Angeles Sept 21st

Lake View Terrace, CA – On Sept 21st at Angeles Shooting Range Forward Assist Training hosted a CGSSA Tactical/Defensive Pistol clinic 101 Presented by Condor Tactical. Held at Eagles nest birm C. Class started at 10:00 am. We had 6 students, 3 instructors and 1 assistant coach. Morning hours were spent going over personal introductions, safety briefing, range rules and emergency procedures. The “six steps” were covered under the tents in a class room style environment. Malfunctions and stoppages were also covered at this time. After a short break it was out to the range to apply what was learned in class. Students learned fundamentals of drawing/presenting from holster, reloading and basic moving/shooting techniques. Class broke for lunch provided by FAT at 12:00. After lunch we finished off the day with tueller drill, close quarters verbal compliance drill and the V drill. Weather was cool in the AM warming up to mid 80s. All safety protocols were followed without instance. At end of day ceremonies, TOP DOG award was handed out to John Bauman. LIKE A BOSS going to Tim Leung. Mike Nguyen was the days big winner with a cap and range bag from CONDOR by being best in the BSA and winning the raffle.

South Orange County “Super Kriss” On Target Monthly Shoot

Event Details:  Indoor range shoot.  Representatives from Kriss firearms came out to demonstrate and give hands on training on their new Sphinx  pistol and others.  No tournaments were held.  $5.00 collected in no show fees.

Weather: HOT!!! 102 UNDER the shade

Event Details: Super hot day at Burro Canyon.  According to the range office it was 102 under the shade.  None the less 14 outta 16 paid ladies showed up to learn the basics of safe firearms handling, storage and marksmanship.  Plenty of ice cold drinks were on hand and with plenty of breaks the ladies took everything in stride and finished the day strong.

AAR Monthly Shoot Island View – Fri, 08/29 – Ventura

Thanks to all for coming out and kicking off the labor day weekend with us at Island View Enterprises in Ventura.

After Action Report (AAR) Monthly Shoot’n’Que Burro Canyon – Sunday, 08/31 – Azusa

Sunday was a hot day at Burro Canyon. 33 people attended. I suspect that the reduced headcount was due to the Labor Day holiday and the summer heat. This month the thread was closed when we reached a headcount of 60. Unfortunately several cancellations on Friday and Saturday dropped the attendees by 11 and there were 21 no shows. It is a fine line having to balance between people who sign-up and those who do not show. 

As usual the plates were full between the burgers, links, carne asada and a large tasty watermelon. We had a nice cooking area with and easy-up and again crazychinaman and bheard handled the cooking duties. Thanks Albert and Bruce! 

RFBIII once again ‘stepped up’ for the RSO duties. Thanks Bob! Note: additional RSO’s will be needed at future events on the East 1 range, due to the divided line, so folks, please volunteer to help!

Again Gun Effects, our shoot sponsor provided several great prizes. Our three prize winners were, RFBIII (Bob B.), Amalord (Amador S.) and Tank1974 (Troy M.). CGSSA provided a brick of 22lr which was won by cesarnono13 (Cesar C.). Reminder: Retain the non-winning raffle tickets as they will be used, for those who attend, during the quarterly Grand Prize drawing in September.
